Joseph W. Watkins has practiced as a civil trial lawyer for over 40 years. For the first 20 years of his career, Mr. Watkins was an insurance defense attorney, representing individuals, companies, and insurers in a wide variety of personal injury cases, large loss property damage cases, and insurance coverage disputes. In 1997, he and two of his partners in his former defense firm began a plaintiff’s practice, where they concentrate their practice on representing individuals who have been severely injured and families of individuals who have died as a result of medical negligence, nursing home negligence, products liability, premises liability and automobile and trucking accidents. Mr. Watkins has tried numerous cases for plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts, and has argued cases before the Georgia Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, as well as before the 11th and 5th Circuit United States Courts of Appeal. Mr. Watkins began a part time mediation practice in 2005, and joined Henning Mediation & Arbitration Service in 2017.
